About This young boy was helping get the fire going at a birthday party. He was sticking willow sticks in the flames to clean them for marshmallows. I loved the light of the fire on his face. Hope you like it as well, Stan

Yes! SCORE!! NOW that rim-light glow on his face is more prominent, and the buildings behind him play no part in the shot. That is exactly what I was hoping it could look like, Stan.

This is a tighter crop in an effort to bring this into a tighter shot. Let me know how this does in contrast to the posted shot. Thanks.Stan

Thanks Dave, the fire was surrounded in a short time after this shot. It was a great party, met some wonderful people there. Be well, Stan

Thanks Mark, this is my 4th month shooting digital and I have learned there is more to learn. I appreciate the candid comments and help. Have been trying to find subjects of interest in my daily life and put them in different perspectives. It is a fun process to look what others have done and how we all see the same thing differently. I am going to redo this and see what comes out. Thanks so much, Stan

Excellent exposure Stan. I do agree a tighter crop would focus much more attention to the glow on the subjects face also increasing the volume of fire pulling the viewers eye directly into your subjects... well done just the same...Regards Mark

Thanks Paul, I will go back into my files and play with that. It was dusk and I was trying to play with the different light and be candid as well. I am a rookie on a mission to learn the intricacies of using the light. I appreciate the comment. Really enjoy your fine work. Be well, Stan

It's such a wide shot, it's really hard to see that edge lighting of the flames. Perhaps a tighter crop with him to the right and the fire to the left?

Thanks Stan, your comment is appreciated. Someday I will get back to Toronto. In 1967 I was on a rowing team in Ecorse Mi. and we came to Toronto to row against the Argonauts. They were a rowing club in Toronto then. Do not know if they are still rowing or not. Toronto was a wonderful city.
Be well Stan
