And they chew much more "sacred leaves" than any advertisement of a "clean country" might imply, Visar! Which I am so glad to know! ;-)

or maybe Machu Pichu, where fog and clouds merge and if by any chance get to meet a shaman around that spreads some chewing sacred leaves- then not that we going to have some mystic view but internalise that whole experience outworldlishly. ;)

Thanks a lot, Angela!
Visar mentioned that dominance of the "porch" too. Do you mean that it should cover less of the image?
Cheers!

Thanks a lot, Daniel! I can be only glad if my intention to let it look "aged" was a bit successful!

Thank you so much for the detaield in depth going comment, Visar!
The soft contrast everywhere else is because of the fog, as you say, but on that wooden roof it is because of a slight turn out of focus. Only this way the rather "aged" style could be kept uniform throughout the whole range of depth, since the fog between me and the very near lying objects is of course of too little influence. The vehicles in the middle ground are really a nuisance. For avoiding them completely and at the same time keeping that side of the mountain in the image there was only one way: Turn the camera to the left until the right edge of the wooden pylon coinsides with the right edge of the image. Would that be a good alternative? It would also weaken the dominance of the roof, which would make it more "beside the roof" and less "under the roof". Perhaps this would be a better choise - I must try that this way some day.
About the fog, well, ideal places for that seem to be mountainous terrains with forests. The humidity makes fog appear very often. As about cities... anybody of London out there? ;-)
Cheers!

I like the idea. A little too much "porch" for me though. :)

Una toma muy interesante en condiciones de luz muy difíciles, me gustan los contrastes entre los elementos de la escena y el grano grueso le da un toque interesante que armoniza con el B&W.
Un abrazo!

you're right, i could maybe name a few 'failiures' in this one Nick, like the soft contrast (which is not a failiure really) as an outcome of fog i guess and the wooden columns that occupy the canvas mercylessly (it takes much of the canvas- maybe a landscape format might have been a better choice). but then there's the other side of it which takes over the throne- the intentional part of having them so- and i trust your judgement on it, having the roof so emphasised on an environment as such/ the hotel (?) further back, the misty mountains that makes a place so wishful for a visit.
In all, this picture Nick, conveys such a mood with only the two elements, that i find imperative to it- fog and the old roof wood. though, i might have tried to avoid the vehicles in the middle ground, they do not really disturb.
PS: I like fog a lot. i wish i could find a place somewhere where there is fog at least 10 hrs a day. :)
cheers Nick, v.
