About The ferries sit there with their mouths wide open. We wonder if we might not walk down to the port and become food for them. We hear that in Europe everyone is wealthy, everyone is happy. We wonder if it can really be.

In just a couple of hours, the ferries will have closed their mouths and returned to another continent, another life, another world.

As usual, serious critiques welcome!

Yes, Marian - a journey never made, and one I guess these two will never make. But maybe they are remembering the journeys their sons made, and wondering where they have got to...

Many thanks Gianes. I wondered whether to "work" this a little more, but your comment encourages me to leave it as it is.

This is emotionally a very precious scene for me.
Your description increases the intense meaning of the photo...
Technically it is very well done, with a beautiful light and a suitable depth among the two subjects and the scene that they observes.
Congratulations AJ, an excellent photo for me.

Many thanks, Michele. You sum up some of my feelings about this image. I think it's actually quite complex (and perhaps difficult), but I'm interested to hear what others think.

Many thanks, Keith. I think the reality is sadder than that, but it's certainly an emotive show!

Many thanks, Shirley. I'm happy to see you commenting on this one. I guess it's a little different from what I have been doing recently and is perhaps a little more "difficult".

Thanks for commenting, John. For me, the two guys were the focal point.
