About Trying to get that aged look and feel again since the low light and the subject seemed to fit well for that. Any comments would be very welcome.

And also sometimes the rules are made to be considered. ;-)

But really, the more I see it the more I find your suggestion for a more classical composition to be right, Gustavo.

Cheers!

:-), bueno, yo aquí solo aplico el clásico arte de la composición y la regla de los tercios, pero las reglas, siempre se hacen para romperlas!...;-)

Un abrazo!

Thanks a lot for the nice comment agaon, Gustavo!

So we have two problems here, of which one is the quite "free" focus, as Ian pointed out, and the other is the centered composition as you point out. Perhaps both of them converge to the same thing, namely a more focused view of the column shifted to the right or left. I think that this could still provide the aged look I wanted, but in a much more appealing way. And thus I'll have to retry that some day.

Many many thanks!

Interesante el detalle de la columna, para mi gusto por ahí demasiado centrada.

Un abrazo!

You are absolutely right, Dave! It is indeed soft in focus, because I thought that such a look would enhance the "aged" feel. But you and Ian and Kiarang put me on the right path again, since I can realize now that my wish for such an aged look would be already fulfilled by the toning and the vignetting alone. I see too that sharper details would still keep that aged touch but would at the same time reveal more of the work of the sculptor.

Thanks a lot for the insight you gave me!

Thanks a lot for the nice comment and the suggestions, Kiarang! Florence is indeed one of my favorite cities. I don't have really a "favorite land", but favorite cities.

I start thinking too, as you say, that a good focus would be better here, since my wish for an aged look would be fulfilled already with the tonal range and the vignetting - as also Ian's comment also implies.

Thank you very much!

I think that it did its work as an "aging agent", Ian, but I am not really sure. Perhaps vignetting would be already enough.

Thans a lot for the comment!

An interesting capture, Nick! I find it's a little soft on the focus, though.

*The column with the built in saints;
again a good architecture shot which tells us a story of old culture and civilization of the photographer's favorite land!
here pure focus, soft contrast and the mood is eye catch!
thanks nick for very different captures...

digging the vignetting. focus point is very free. maybe it helps to age the pillar.
