"spyhopping," lifting its body out of the water like a periscope to get a better look around. The reflected light spots are Barnacles which are small sea creatures that live on humpbacks. When humpbacks fight, the hard barnacle shells act as armor and can cut the other whale. This is the only spyhopping image on two outing and this was the best of three images.
those are not barnacles, they are part of the whales anatomy the name of which escapes me ow, barnacles are crustaceans. not much of a spyhopping image but a lovely photo nevertheless. Great capture.
