Avi, this is an excellent concept that was very well executed!! I love the framing and the title! The motion and suggestions that the current are shadows without defined shapes stand in stark contrast to the historical civilizations of the past, which are no longer moving . . . but defined clearly now that they have ended. Absolutely one of your best (IMO)!

Doyle I <~~~~~

I like the concept here very much and the composition too. The ancient civilisations either stand still, or where they still remain, move more slowly, while the first world dashes from fashion to fashion and technological change in a very few years. If only we could slow down and appreciate what is still left..
Regards, Gary

SUPERB! something unmoved against something moved... a superb shot about action, and a shot taken right to the BEST MOMENT so the silhouettes of the people being between the statues, the result is OUT OF ANY KIND of critique, big complements for that... into my favorites!

many good things on this Avi, as always composition is perfect; BW terrific, blurry people great and good presentation as well; two nits: egpyptian sculpures should have a better focus but i undesrtand you take this with no optima light conditions; crop 2/3 the black upper bar for better balance; nonethless, a grand piece my friend...jd
btw: Where s Deb?

Nick Karagiaouroglou Nick Karagiaouroglou   {K:127263} 3/7/2008
What an idea! I have the impression of a world running and passing by civilisations "quickly and efficiently" - another disease of modern life. Thinking? Why that? Been there, saw that, that's enough! I also have the impression of a comparison of the fast things that only last a short time against the things that take time but last an eternity. And I have to think about projects of the past, that took centuries to accomplish, and in which the people working for them knew that they are not going to see them finished in their lives. No such things today. If it takes more than 3.5 months, then it's no good. And that's why the things that are worthy to remain in history as milestones get less and less.

The lighting and combination of still and motion are great here, Avi! All details and finest definition go to the civilisations in the museum. The other "civilisation", the running one, is only a dark shadow that already seems to be decaying in its one blurry attitude.

A work with very dense contents!

Nick
