Beautiful, Peter. Thewre is light in her face, the light of a lifetime, and the dullness in her eyes seems to me a resignation or tiredness. I admire your task with these portraits, very difficult and brave of you. Have you consedered cropping the bottom a bit? I might. just to make her head seem not so small. But your crop, as it is, has a certain quality which I admire, also!

Peter, thank you for explanation. I didn't know the circumstance. Your photo is great, and I would only give you a little suggestion. I capture my portraits often in streets, see my "Homeless". They are the best ones. Regards, your Detlef

To Detlef and Bjorn: I know that each classical portrait need to be made with some sharpness and light in eyes. When I portraited this Granny, she asked me : "Do you really want to shot so old and nasty woman?" It was taken in House for old people (sorry for my english) one week before she was died 99 years old .... She tried smile to me crouched to her carriage ... without any light in her eyes ... I answered to her :" I would like to shot your whole life reflected in your face to understand it, to bow it... Without any flash, any disturbing lights ....

Very good photo. Possible points of improvement (in my very humble opinion, please tell me if I am wrong!): - Crop a little tighter on the bottom. - Use of a reflector or fill-flash or something to make the dark places a little lighter.

Hi Peter, why does old people have sadness in their eyes? Few doens't. Are they reflecting their past life of hard work and not many joy? I don't know. Your picture brings all this to my mind. Beautiful lady trying to smile to you. Marilia
