About into all that smoke how on earth can he play music??? :-D

a bit difficult shot, taken using 300mm lens plus high ISO speed, I think that was 1600, taken from long distance!

Well executed image, with amusing title. It does seem that they had the smoke machine turned on too high.

All the best to you.

yea, high ISOs and lot of millimeters on the lens equals destraction haha.... anyway, my lens could not get wider aperture than f5.6 as it's a cheep lens (hehehe...less that 280 Euros for that Sigma 28-300)

Excellent environmental portrait of this trumpet player, John! The swirling smoke creates a great atmosphere, and you've captured it well.

Riny Koopman Riny Koopman   {K:102911} 2/16/2008
Hallo John,I think that the iso 1600 is right for this picture, but not from long distance,Aperture is how wide the lens' iris opens. The wider it opens the more light gets in. It's exactly the same thing as the iris of your eye which opens as the light gets darker. The wider it opens for the same subject the shorter the shutter speed will be to get the correct exposure. This is because the camera chooses shutter speed based on how much light gets into the camera.be well dear JOHN, Riny

Take Care,
Michele~

well I hope I could use ISO 3200 but that ....destroy my shots, lot of noise there... hope the next camera (I suppose future Canon 50D) will get good shots in that ISO speed...
