About This is the result of a very dark background, overexposure and soft focus. I think that it does have some interesting things for posting. Any comments would be very welcome.

Yes, nature offers many possibilities for abstracts or at least abstract-like images, I guess.

Thanks again for the nice comment, Dave!

Thanks a lot for the nice comment, Gustavo!

As already said to Bill and to Andre, I'll have to try something similar with some of the flower in focus and the rest of it soft. It's going to be difficult, but that makes it interesting!

Cheers,

Nick

Thanks a lot for the nice and detailed comment, Bill!

I am glad to see that another opinion converges to the same point of more sharpness on at least some part of the central flower. Thinking about that and also about what Andre said, and considering that I would like to keep that kind of halo around the flower (using soft focus), I come to some vague idea. Perhaps keeping an extremely shallow DoF on the center of the flower would do, but then it has to be really extremely shallow, in order to leave the leaves soft. I'll have to try my luck in that direction.

Thanks a lot for the idea again, and all the best!

Thanks a lot for the nice comment and above all for the suggestion, Andre! I'll have to retry something like that with more focus on the main subject. I can only hope that that kind of halo around the contours of the flower will remain then.

Have a nice day,

Nick

Very nicely done, almost abstract composition, Nick!

Espléndido aquí el efecto de viñeta enfocando la atención, y muy lograda la saturación de colores.
Bravo!

Interesting floral Nick. The colors in the background really highlight the vibrant yellow of the bloom. There needs to be, in my "for-what-it's-worth" category, a focal point in the bloom somewhere. Maybe just a sharpness in the center or some petal details would draw the viewer "in" a little more. The thumbnail got me looking though, and the colors and depth of field are really eye-catching. Best regards-Bill Voizin

Hi Nick,
The composition, colouring of the background, and softness are all fine. I think the image could be improved if there were more detail in the yellow areas of the flower.
Andre
