Beautiful use of the texture and pattern on the dry leaf. The selective desat also works great.Only nit is that some small areas on the leaf are blown out.Good composition.

This is a really nice idea and the result of the desaturation is fantastic..; one can feel some poetry in this composition.

thanks so much Subhrajit for your kind comment... lol... I love to do part desaturations, takes some time but I think in many ways that is the good way to support an object (or subject) into a photo...believe me, you could not even to SEE that leaf in real colors...absolutely the same in background!

John Hatz John Hatz   {K:156973} 11/4/2007
well I think you only need the lasso tool, try to make a path roundly to an easy object, for excample something with common shape for first time like something square, with lot of 'lines' and not so many curves (curves needs much more click to have a perfect shape without tiny corners, when you end that your job is also end at 99%! You only go to the adjustments and select 'desaturation' and that's all...
p.s. I think only in helth and...anyway doctor's language helps the Greeks because there are greek words, and a bit in astronomy, other sciens have other languages, for excample in music people from Italy (and many from your country too...) have easy job about all these alegro etc... :-)

I don't have specifique skills in photos Minoo... I must say there was other people in sites like U.F. that also write to me about there photos and how they work on them and so I try and learn some... I have to do the same...

be well Minoo!

NOW!!! This one is another excellent work. This may not have taken as much as the bike photo, but this one is equally stunning. Really wonderful selective colouring. Great my friend :) 7/7 no doubt

Sure, there is Lasso Tool, Polygonal Lasso Tool, and Magnetic Lasso Tool. It requires a lot of time to sit and learn all these possibilities. Well, when I retire (in just a few decades), I think I will have tiime to learn all that :)
200 words is not so bad. It is good enough to write. Besides, the etymology of many English (scientific) terms is Greek. So, you are lucky to be a Greek native speaker. You can learn scientific English (or other languages) more quickly than many people.

Take care and thank you so much for being so generous about teaching your skills.
All the best,
Minoo

be well Minoo... well I think perchaps there are other tools in that PS area you see thatmagic wang tool... however I must say Corel's suite have lot to give on that and I think it's better tool... I think we must take a look to the cheep program (for home use) of Corel, the Corel Paint X, I think that is much cheeper than the suite... about 150 Euros in Greece...propably even cheeper to other countries (hahaha...kidding and messing with lower pays in Greece BUT heavier prices...)

now about the time it needs...yea, lately I have the same problem...not soooo much free time to do that... however it's fun and I like to spend some time at weekend...and thanks so much about your openion for my english...hahaha...even I know only 200 words! :-DDD
Be well my friend!

Thank you so very much dear friend for your prompt reply to my request. Yes it is quite clear what you write. I have tried the same method in PhotoShop, but I suppose I do not have the patience to do it as neatly and as well as you do. As your work is so perfect, I thought perhaps there was a special way of doing it that I did not know. The magic Wand Tool also exists in PhotoShop and it has exactly the same problem.
Your English is very good too. So please have more confidence in it. The more one writes, the better it will be.
Many thanks again and all the best,
Minoo

it's very easy...even it wants some time Minoo... personaly I don't use PhotoShop, I use Corel Photo Paint so I don't know how to do that in PS or what are the names of the tools in PS however I bet that MUST be also in PS.
In corel Photo Paint you have not layers but masks, I mostly use the brush mask tool, a tool that you can chose an object into a photo as you 'paint' on it, they are lot of ways to chose a part of your image, other times I use the lasso mask tool that you can ...somehow cut your object roundly, you just fallow with the mouse the outline and click as many times as possible, then you connect roundly these lines and that's all...after that you can use a filter, or paintwork, or desaturation as I use here in ONLY A SPECIFIC part of your image and not at entire the frame... if the object is not a common one (like here that leaf that has a very delicated outline) you have to spend a bit more time...however it is excactly the same way!
there is another tool the "magic wang mask tool" that it is automaticly mark an object however that does not work all the times, especialy when the object you want to mask is not in strong contrast with the roundly things OR in a common - same color with them, so I don't use it.

hope that was clear...because I don't know good english...and I'm not sure if the others understand what I mean... :-)

be well Minoo!

Yes, I understand that. You made a great choice to emphasize the best part of the picture and make it stand out.
Please teach me how to do it, if possible.
All the best,
Minoo

John Hatz John Hatz   {K:156973} 11/3/2007
thanks Minoo, glad you like that...in real photo there wasn't strong difference between that leaf and the also brown colors of the background...so needed that desaturation...
