About Spending so much time travelling in trains sometimes absurd thoughts appear, that are worth trying to capture. A window to the outside transforms to some kind of abstract painting, especially on days when it rains and is snows at the same time. Concentrating on just one plain of the depth and just ignoring the rest can empty one's mind of any "reasonable" thinking. Something seems to happen then, just as if absurdity would turn quite normal.

I tried to let it look like some kind of painting - and the gallery was the train in which I was sitting.

I'd be very glad to read any comments.

Hi Andre, and thanks a lot for the nice and detailed comment!

Indeed, that kind of non-spectacular beauty again, and I couldn't bring it down to a few words as you did by writing about the "sugar coated" sense! I am now laughing in the one hand and thinking on the other hand. You just hit the nail on its head!

And those little games you talk about, I think they might also be the necessary small escapes in order to not drop down or go completely insane. I'm glad that I don't have to use them so often anymore and still I also remember those days with some kind of nostalgy - perhaps exactly because of that kind of beauty.

Cheers,

Nick

Hi Nick,
I remember well the days when I used to commute by Bus, Subway and Streetcar (electric tram) It is very easy to half doze off while staring out one of these windows. You have to invent all kinds of little games to play while watching the scenes go by in a semi blur.
Jimmy describes it well "beautifully absurd" See... there is that word "beauty" again, but not in the sugar coated spectacular sense :)
Thank you for bringing back a few memories from my time before owning a car. :)

Thanks a lot for the so nice comment, Jimmy. Well, yes. Much absurdity in it. That kind of absurdity that gets quite "normal" in the daily run.

Oh, and just for the record, it was a train, but I guess the same could be done in a bus or any other transportation vehicle.

Cheers,

Nick
