About Tonight's night shoot focused on an old Native American general store and gas station on Route 66. Made of adobe and long abandoned, I had thought it was a house at the time until corrected by a local.

I used a red flashlight on the interior, a plain (non-colored) flashlight on the front and a green strobe flash on the side.

4 minute, 5 second exposure.

Dang, Annemette! You mean I was at a house of ill repute and didn't realize it? Geeze, I'm getting old and seem to have lost it. I usually don't lose an opportunity... LOL

Thanks,
Dave

Now you're getting surreal. Like the opening scene in a horror movie. Nice perspective with the wideangle.

Fascinating how you turned this place into sth. from a scary movie or a house for certain ladies with a less refined taste in men*LOL* Great work!

Actually, my big worry was getting scalped. I had just started shooting after dark when a local showed up and said I would be busted by the Indian Police who would probably take my camera. His words were "they won't scalp you or anything". I had to chuckle at that. I figured he'd go call the police on me but apparently he didn't.

So I was a little more than nervous the rest of the shoot but I cut it much shorter than I would have liked. I got out of there when some of the neighboring residents began stirring. My mistake was not waiting until after midnight... this was taken at 9:30, a little too early because of the amount of people passing by.

Hehehe, sorry about that Dave.... just toss in a rock or make some loud noise... if there's a rattler he'll let you know he's in there. They generally don't sleep at night as they are out hunting.

Your explanation makes perfect sense. And yes, it does look "HOT" for sure and I like it that way... like I said, it's just a "TAD" blown out in some areas, but for sure not to the point where it ruins the shot...that's why ya got a 7+++ from me :) I also like the lights in the distance... it's just the lone white light that bothers me, but heck, what do I know... lol

Still a great job... don't mind me, I'm just Ms Perfectionist.... who can't produce perfection, but can only critique it!! LOL

Thanks, Cathy. I was happy with the sky, too. But on the other hand, it was hampering my shoot. Off to the right was a relatively full moon that I was going to rely on for lighting. But it was totally behind the clouds and very frustrating. So I had to rely on added light.

Best wishes,
Dave

Thanks, Bernar. If you're talking about that distant orange glow, that is Albuquerque, 60 miles east. I did change this over to the HOT project, though, Thanks for that suggestion.

Best wishes,
Dave

Thanks, Brigitte. I agree about the red interior. But it is all experimental and on the little CCD screen it looked perfect. You never know until you get back what it's going to look like. But I did want a very "hot" look emanating from the inside, so I guess I accomplished that.

I also liked the light in the distance, it does two things. Draws your attention to the glow from Albuquerque 60 miles east and gives some depth to the photo.

And no more talk of snakes, okay? I was cursing you with every step I took through the brush and weeds around this house. I was praying I didn't come across a sleeping rattler.

Best wishes,
Dave

The effort you have put into the lighting is amazing, but it is the sky that steals the show. CC

I like the light on the background that gives this "orange" ilumination. You can put this photo in the hot, hot, hot project I think. Nice great angular and what can I said about your night pictures...

Super...

You're certainly getting in a lot of practice.... I like your choice of colors. The illumination is perfect... brings out all the nice details of the bricks which I think really highlights this shot. I think if you were to do this shot again, I'd reduce the amount of red light inside the dwelling - for my eyes, it's a tad bright... but maybe I'm staring at it too long . I love the angle here... I like feeling close to the steps leading into the store. And the clouds... wow... they are especially stunning.. they look painted too! Sweet shot....great work. You may want to clone out the bright white light in the distance. I'm really enjoying viewing this painted work you are creating. 7+++
