About I found this giant Banyan tree so interesting. This was in Kona Town, on the big island of Hawaii on Alii Drive.

Interesting composition and lots of detail to keep the eye occupied, Brigitte! The roadway is great as a lead in and depth cue!

Nicely cropped in wide format dear Brigitte,I'm now very intereted in this 16:9 format, wide and expanding, and never set free the subjects, don't you think so? really good shade it makes for the passenger and photographer.Thanks.

Hi Willem! Thank you for viewing my photo and taking the time to comment on it. I really appreciate it. You are so perceptive, it was indeed a "snapshot"... sometimes I take photos with a certain intent, other times like when on vacation I simply shoot when I get the opportunity for memory sake. This was one such shot... we were driving along and this tree really stood out for me, so I grabbed the camera quick and shot it right from the car through the windshield. It wasn't unitl I got back home and viewed this on the computer when I thought it turned out pretty interesting. I did crop it to make it look more artistic photographically and cleaned up the image a bit to remove the slight haze left from the windshield.

Thanks again for the really good comments... and best wishes, Brigitte

Yeah... very nice shot. People sometimes talk of snapshots as if they can't be great photos, but I heartily disagree with that. It often makes for an interesting scene to look at if a picture contains many elements that you weren't particularly aiming for. For instance, the car passing under the tree makes a relationship visible (between it and the tree), and that gives life to the image.
