Dave, this is such an incredibly beautiful and well taken photograph. I am totally surprised that this one hasn't been given a UF award! I could stare at this image for hours. It must've been incredible to be there. Congratulations for bringing back a PERFECT image! Thank you for sharing the story about it too. I've put this into my favorites. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I LOVE IT!!!! Oh, and it is soooo nice to see animals roaming free. I wish we had more places for them to live a more natural life.

Thank you, Antonia. "Asperical" was a typo on my part. It should have read "aspherical".
Wikipedia defines it as such:
An aspheric lens or asphere is a lens whose surfaces have a profile that is neither a portion of a sphere nor of a circular cylinder. In photography, a lens assembly that includes an aspheric element is often called an aspherical lens.
Best wishes, Dave

You're very welcome, Dave! The light may have been low, but the overall impression is soft and lovely.:)

Thank you, Shirley. I didn't think it fit anything for a project. But I've taken your advice.
That rim lighting on the horses was of concern to me. I was worried that it looked like a bad cut/paste job. Hard, low light. Glad you noticed and recognized it for what it was.

Thank you Danny and good morning to you, too. My morning, probably not the same thing for you.
Actually, very little was done to this photo in terms of post-processing. Slight level change and slight burning of the green bushes. Other than that, I can attribute this as the result of great conditions. The pastels of the desert, the new lens I'm using and strong low light.

Wow. I pegged you at about 5'10, maybe 5'11. Sheesh, was I off.
Now, that's probably about right for a Jockey but then I really don't know the size criteria.

Thank you, Michele. Actually, I was all the way out at 250mm when I shot this. We were 4X4ing on a back trail when we came around a curve and found them near the trail. They were spooked and very leary of me. But for whatever reason, they came nearer as they tried to go around me instead of taking off in the opposite direction.
Hmmm... the pics I've seen of you gave me the impression you were tall. Maybe your photographer is short.

¡Gracias, Alicia!
Recuerdos, Dave

Good morning Dave. What a splendid arrangement and together with that beautiful light it has made a superb image. It looks a little as if you have softened everything then brought the horses back through but that is where skills are brought into the equation. whatever the result is superb and i congratulate you on a marvelous image.

Oh what a beautiful photo, Dave. Love the rimlighting on the horses. Just a delightful scene...almost like a painting. This could be entered in the Friends Project, or even Peace and Tranquility.:)

An excellent shot of these companions and the landscape together Dave.... Are You waaaay far away from them or do they like You ? I would love to make friends with these two... I love to ride them and if I could live my life again when I was in my 20's I would've been a jockey . I am the right size and there is no bigger thrill imaginable for me than to ride as fast as the horse can go .... Very nice shot !! Michele~

Thank you, Viola. One of the things I liked about this photo was the pastels of the desert. It was really peaceful driving around on the back roads yesterday, seeing things like this. I'm going to do it again this evening, hopefully.
