About One of the many abandoned "trading posts" along the famed old Route 66 in New Mexico, this one at Budville.

Apart from a few sections left, Route 66 has long since been replaced by an Interstate highway, leaving towns "dead". An American legend, Route 66 ran from Chicago to Los Angeles as the major thoroughfare.

Thanks, Gary. I agree wholeheartedly about the town name, seems so out of place and "hokey". I am also amazed that so many towns in New Mexico are Irish named but I forget that it is the result of the railroads naming them rather than the local native/Hispanic people.

Best to you,
Dave

I love that name, Budville, sounds like something made up for a 50's black and white TV show. I guess this is a USA that is fast disappearing. The range of tones are real good.

Sorry, Ahmed, I mispoke. Actually, it was using the White Balance range on the camera. Not AEB.

Thank you, Shirley... one of the few black and whites I'm happy with.

Thank you, Michele. Whoever the owner is, they still keep it freshly painted apparently. The only thing it is missing is an 1950s car sitting out front.

Looking at the paper-covered windows, though, it does seem that this place actually closed recently. I know in my town, everyday another business goes belly up. Mostly because people here have no idea how to run a business.

Thank you, Ahmed. Been trying something different, automatic exposure bracketing (AEB) and the results are fabulous. Uses a lot more space on the card but well worth it. Since I carry 7 gigs of cards, it's not a problem.
