Does my head in to try and calculate. Yes wer're upside down and a fair way on the other side but its position relative to the sun is the same and it's about an hour east of it I'm guessing by now... a before sunrise thing. I haven't got to pause for it yet.
For the greeks it meant sumer, hence "halcion days", which I'd have called Fen if he was a chick.

Welllll..... it looks pretty much the same here. Only thing that would change is the foreground. Maybe a branch from my Chinese Elm.

I think that is, "Half an hour before sunset in Illinois (L-uh-noy) could be two hours after sunrise in Otago in winter." Or some such....

Matariki is Rising Jim. Major star of the polynesian navigators The name is big in both hawaii (that's in the states ;) and kiwi land. Their starlore came from taiwan ut haven't seen what he evidence is of that yet. It disappeared a month ago and started rising half an hour before sunrise a coupla weeks back (marking midwinter pulling the crops up with it) but I haven't shot it yet. Called subaru by the japanese and pleiades by them greek dudes. be interested to see it from your place.
