About In some very odd and also very interesting sci-fi movies, some strange guys of "unknown civilizations" appear, that seem to always like the most incomprehensible surroundings. The sense and nonsense of the scene make it look odd, strange, impossible to understand - and thus the suggestion of a very "high" state of that civilization. Just think of "Q" in startrek or of all the completely unapproachable "intelligence" of space 1999.

I tried to make such a scene using triple exposure of the lights and supporting structures in the railway station, and it seems to have worked here.

I would be very excited to know what you think about this one.

An image posted with misgivings offers so many learning opportunities. :)

Ian, my attention was indeed directed to the catwalk, but it was (and still is) just because of my own disliking. The lights are OK for me but I would wish to have that catwalk starting not so "far away", since when looking at this one I get the feeling that something exists between me and the start of the catwalk - it really bothers me. I guess that I am too fixed wanting to start my perspectives at "absolutely here" and ket them continue just as far as they continue.

As about the lights, well, for the same reason as above, I find them OK - not great, just OK.

Thanks a lot for your clarifying reply, which shows me much more about my own vision than you might imagine.

The cat walk is fine, I was thinking of the lights upper right, (I want to see all the nice shape) but directed your attention to the catwalk sorry.
But it is true isn't it, perhaps Brechtian, to have something such as perhaps the beam, obscuring something like the lights.

Thanks a lot, Ian, for the great comment!

When I "built-up" such imaginary scenes, I am limited by the lookings of what is available. A bit further downwards there was the pavement which wouldn't fit as well to this scene. So I had to frame it this way. It does bother though, that the start of the catwalk is so... half!

Thanks again and best wishes,

Nick

The catwalk is an excellent idea. All the ideas are excellent. My compliments. I am frustrated by the beginning of the process on the right being obscured partially. Still such compositions with found objects should have an element of stubbourness I guess.
