For whatever reason you shot this, it WORKS for me! I love rust and this detail is superb! Wonderful textures and shadows/light play. Virtually monotone (or is that monochrome???) Love it!

Well .... I think your friend will like it after he gets used to it , & to being 60yrs!!! I don't know what it is but I did notice the entire rusted nostalgia and of course the 6 rusty nails( or what looks like nails)) He will probably like it because it came from YOU :)) It is an interesting abstract...I do like the textures, tones and color, and the rust .... Of Course !!!

Besides the symbol, a picture of an old rusted junk for the 60th birthday is very depressing. Put some colorful paints on it, maybe it will help.
