You guys are gonna make me blush, aww shucks hehe. Quick n' easy lighting here: 1 diffused strobe aimed 45degrees into the petal, over exposed by half a stop which causes the slightly hot edges you see (entire flower was a bit over but after burning it down some only the edge stays hot - yes i do have one at the meter reading but I preferred the edge light). And 1 undiffused strobe aimed at the background (you can see the falloff on the left side, this was corrected in the 2nd shot but I like the way it contrasts with the petal edge lighting.) Credit for saving the orchid from death and bringing it back to healthy photoworthy condition goes to Tess B, lighting consultation Ted B.

Terrence! WOW! May I ask how you lit this? Someone in the office has a similar Orchid and I was contemplating various shots...

Terrence, In my book, it is shots like yours that help make this site such a pleasure to visit everyday, and what helps to keep the bar high for the rest of us. Nice shot! Sam
