Thanks Sue . . . No matter how many variations I post I get confusing mixed signals . . . . each seems to have their own people who think that that version is best. I guess, then, that one must really rely on what they feel is their own idea of best. Particularly since that will be the one carrying their name, huh? I appreciate the comments!!!

LMAO...last time I checked underwater basketweaving was pretty pricey. Look into Pill Bug racing, much cheaper...the bugs are free and easy to tote from race to race. Just a thought!
Later...I'm off to the dermatologist.

BWA HAHAHAAAhahaa . . . Ok . . . you DESERVED that after what you did to me!!
And you know I'm never angered by honesty even when it's tempered with absurd 'politically correct' lingo. Fake vs. Unnatural. Sheeeesh. Heheheheee . . . that was a stroke of genius and I know something about . . . uhhhh . . . geniusness-ocity. How about 'reality challenged'? Faux Naturale? Ersatz quality??
Obviously this shot has had issues since there are now three different images of it being reviewed, considered, etc. And let's be a bit honest . . . when a photog posts a shot . . . at least one like you or I would . . . and mentions softness or any other potentially damaging issue which might affect the quality . . . they usually already KNOW it . . .
So anyway . . . I was considering a new hobby . . . say . . . underwater basketweaving . . . any idea how much that runs?? LoL!
Marlyce? Workboots? Nahhhhh . . . she's still running (she's also the President of a large Non-Profit here -- sucker --)
Take Care Robin (and do something about that 'itching' problem)!

Simply marvellous dahling, Rinahol sounds like a delish cocktail.
And yellow? Yes yes... exquisitely tacky of Mr Warhol, but would have clashed horribly with my Pabst blue settee....

*scratching my head* IIIIIIII dunno 'bout this one DD. Fake is such a harsh word...maybe unnatural would be more palatable? Just my humble opinion...have to agree with Bobot (bg and fg steal the "goats" thunder), and Rina (motion blur, who was tipsy?...you or the Ibex?), and Lisa (the orange/red eyes)...other than those minor issues I think, well...I think, I think...you still look maaaaah-velous!
Jeez...don't be mad at me now 'kay...it's just not up to snuff, not compared to all the other geniusnessocity in your portfolio. And of course, everything said was meant in the nicest possible way! :)
Take care...Robin
ps...Has Marlyce thrown away those work boots yet? Just curious.

Thanks for your thoughts on this Bobot. I tried a few different things, one of which was various Gaussian blurs . . . with the tricky lighting and the water running down the right side stone surface . . . it's going to end up something that's good . . . but however it's worked it will not have a universal appeal. Still . . . it was a learning experience to get the capture and to work the image and I was happy at all of the people who generously provided me with helpful feedback -- yourself included. :)

I think its the highlights in the BG thats is grabbing the attention from the goat. The shiny on the right foreground too attracts the eye away from the subject. Those textures at the background attracts interest... Overall I don't think its that bad, really a hard situation but you captured the goat very well. regards...

The Ibex looks superb here in the image. I'm not so sure about the eyes though. On my monitor the eyes appear to be quite bright in color (redish-orange) and look as they have been altered in some way.
I like the adjustments you have made to the background the Ibex really does stand out.

An excellent job of saving a good shot of the Ibex, Doyle! Since you couldn't do anything about the background at the time of the shot, you've really made him stand out in this version. Dave.

Doyle... ~~GRIN~~...
Sorry 'bout the ~~GRIN~~'s... Comes from years of working where, if you laughed out loud the way I do, heads would pop out of doorways, I'd get a tap on the shoulder to tone it down please and be a lady... I have been told all my life that I have a very *smutty* laugh ;)...
That said, I sneeze the same way I laugh, both feet leave the ground... As my Dad says ' If you're going to do something, do it well and throw your body and brain into it'... so a lady and a ~~GRIN~~ ner I be on line and you'll have to like it or lump it Doyle, Sir...LMAO (that's the non lady bit )...
Did I tell you your a GENIUS Doyle... Opps!!!... Fantasy buster ;)... and your singing s'not too bad either... It's so hard to be humble . . . . when you're perfect in EVERY way!!! LOL!
Onie... ~~GRIN~~

Very good, Doyle. With the wisdom of Solomon, you split the "baby" in half, Ibex color and the rest desat. All in all I think it worked well. Now, there was a priest, a rabbi, ............ --Best to you, Jan

Thank you so much Onie, my ~~GRINNING~~ friend! I got plenty of comments on the first version so don't feel bad you didn't add "EeeeeeW!" to my comments . . . I'll assume you were going to call me a genius instead . . . Shhhhhhh . . . leave me the fantasy . . . I don't want to know the truth! To even use the term "National Geographic" in your comment to me is VERY cool. You couldn't be kinder with that Dear Onie because I have ALWAYS been humbled by the work in that publication.
The original has a problem in that the animal and the BG were so similar in hues . . . hence the slight hue shift.
You like the B&W because you have excellent taste!! LoL!
You are making my head swell with the praise - good thing you stopped!! LoL! It's so hard to be humble . . . . when you're perfect in EVERY way!!! LOL!

No, doesn't feel or look fake at all Doyle... ~~GRIN~~ Well, not to me at least... :)
Thought I'd commented on the first version :( but not there... Must have been a late night... :)
OK... Like what you've done to the BG, the Ibex lifts, yet doesn't separate, from the image which is great... Still part of the *whole*, not slotted into the scene...:) If that makes sense...
This actually looks like a National Geographic Doyle... The subject is clear, clean and well defined, looks natural in the surroundings...
The original colour version looks a little flat, maybe because the colour is consistent to both the animal and surrounds...:)
The B&W I love anyway... because I just do...LOL...
I'm stopping now because starting to go 'round in circles... LOL...
Excellent PP work Sir...:)))

Hi Doyle, I like this version of the Ibex. I like the contrast between the Ibex and the stone behind him, you can see his horns better too. I don't think that the rocks look fake, I'm sure that Himalayan rocks are that colour not a golden shade, but what do I know.. I'm also a blonde:)7+++++++++ Sylvia
