haha Very true, but like myself, my models will do ANYTHING for a great shot. The photos from farther away with the REAL ice look amazing, as there's a big icy rock boarder around one part of the lake, and a lighthouse covered in icicles at the end of it... we had to walk wayyyy out to get that. Nothing is more authentic than the real thing! Thanks for the interest and I should have more up soon:)

Thanks for the coment! I really like this one :) Yeah my model was cold... but not as cold as the last shoot we did together where we BOTH modelled for a photographer friend, lying half naked on frozen Lake Erie!! We both got sick after hahaha... We're tough girls though ;) Anyway, keep up the great work!

Definitely like very much. The reflections on the eyes and the almost high key light on the skin really bring out your model's beauty. Composition wise, I like collar bones included on portaits so that's my only nitpick.
Didn't realize you actually had a studio for portait photography - excellent images!

I find that with each session I become more aware of the small details BEFORE taking the shot, but sometimes I just miss things, like her earring.

If you have CS2, Surface Blur is one of the newest tools, and it's a dream for portrait photographers, as it does a great job of smoothing skin without blurring sharp edges, like in eyes, lips and teeth.

Ok...Here are the details, Cernan (thanks for asking):
We were shooting in a theater's 2nd floor hallway, and I had Christy lie down on the carpet so I could spread her hair. The lighting is JUST from window light (which is why I had to jump up to ISO 1600).
Once I had her jaw positioned to sculpt her beautiful profile, I had her look toward the window, to get that gorgeous catch-light.
This is cropped down from the full image, and then in Photoshop I applied a very cool plug-in from Kubota (series III) called 'Doll Face' which creates a new layer with surface blur. It then hands you a brush at 30% strength to begin applying the smoothed skin where you want, but it is a light enough effect that it doesn't make the models face look "plastic".
My final touch is to set my brush with a soft edge, in Soft light Mode, at a very low opacity and flow (17 & 20). Now with my brush set to white, I go in and brighten the shine on the lips and eyes, and then set my brush color black, and darken the lashes and eyebrows.
Christy was stunned when she saw this shot; she'd forgotten about even posing for this shot on the floor. ;)

Paul, this is a very good portrait shot. i love how you have captured the expression on her eyes. im very much interested to know the lighting you have used and if you edited this in the computer as i can notice the skin tones in the top forehead is more highlighted..or maybe its just my monitor. great job. very lovely model too.
