Nice shot, Ed! As for the overexposure on the head, try stopping down 2/3 to 1 1/3 depending on the intensity of the sunlight. It is easier to bring out the parts that are slightly underexposed in PS than it is to recapure the detail in "Hot" whites. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your comment Emmanuel.
The first day I tried shooting these eagles, was on an overcast day and I was less than impressed with the results, as can be seen in: http://www.usefilm.com/Image.asp?ID=1246779 and: http://www.usefilm.com/Image.asp?ID=1246753
But I have gone out the last few times around noon, so I will have to try your suggestion and try to get some shots closer to sunrise or sunset.
All the best, Ed

Ed i understand this is wasn't easy shot to take Yep!! eagles are very hard to shoot, and you did a very nice job taking the picture my friend The only suggestion i have to give you is: shoot in overcast day , or very early in the morning or late in the evening, again I'm not an export on birds, i work as a landscape and cityscape photographer for my county and that's what i know to do best :) Thanks for your reply and your comments Emmanuel

Thank you for your comment Emmanuel.
Considering the bird's tendency to fly off if you try to get too close, it doesn't exactly allow the luxury of time to compose the shot.
But you are quite right; I've been struggling a little recently while trying to capture some good eagle shots. As you pointed out, my biggest problem is trying to find a happy balance between the bright white head and much darker brown body. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?
All the best, Ed

Very nice picture the only think i can see wrong is the overexposed head on the bird and some unwanted shadows under the wing But overall a very nice picture
