This is a beautiful shot, Eb. I love the composition. There are two small points I would make. One is that orange saturation may be a bit too strong. It makes the leaves in the lower left stand out a bit too much. The second is that I feel that the peaks in the upper left corner should be a bit less fuzzy. Other than these two very small points, it's a very fine photo. Steve

Hi Eb, I am looking into it, I have to find a good subject worth the time and effort. But I'm very interested, thanks for your reply! It certainly looks more like the way we see as opposed to how the camera sees, because our eyes adapt to different light conditions.

Thank you Ina for the thoughtful critique. I encourage you to try HDR, either with CS2 or Photomatix software. It may work very well for cityscapes, with some experimentation. Generally, HDR is a good way to make a bad photograph. I am not kidding! This one is the best and most naturalistic I've managed. I should practice more, 'though! It takes wind-still conditions, a sturdy tripod, time for multiple exposures and some hours experimenting with the software. Eb

Excellent landscape Eb, I like the many elements coming together: the rustic fence posts, the grass, the snow patches, the lifting fog, the frosty ground, and the mountains. I never used HDR, but read about it, and it looks very succesful in this type of image. I really like the sharpness of the details in the foreground and the warm light on the ground on the left side of the fence. That type of clarity makes it feel natural, as seen with our own eyes, as if we - the viewers - are there. Great work, Eb!

good simple composition where the fence line draws me into the photo yet allows my eye through it as well to be able to see the rest of what is happening in this moody photo. I also like the contrast of warm colors of the grass in the foreground against the coolness of the overall image creating visual excitement. Overall a great shot, congrats Eb

Nice capture. I like the slim line of fog that appears to wrap around the treeline.

This is a wonderful scene. The colors are great with a touch of sunlight. I agree with other comments about the fence.

Excellent scenic and your technique worked very well for the exposure, Eb! I like the line of the fence leading through the shot, and the wisps of mist just above the ground. Dave.

Great job and a good choice to go 'HDR'!! Now you've got a wonderful landscape with great colors and a fantastic sky to 'top it off', excellent composition putting the fence in the diagonal... well done!!
