Hey Michele! I can see after being absent for a few days I've missed some good stuff! I love the cool blues in this one...appropriate for a Monday huh? Wonderful light/shadow and a great job with the horizon. Doyle's suggestion to crop works well (of course, and he's the first to tell you how right he is) to pump it up a notch. Well done!
Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it!
Take care...Robin

Yes.. I agree I do have The best tutor availble IMO ! Absolutely right , and I* do think the pano type of shot is waaay better. I agree with all you have pointed out Doyle and your timming was so perfect for telling me this. I had taken 92 shots going out of town etc. and hoping for some good ones.. this time just getting a clear shot was definitely not enough . Great idea cutting the sky . With much appreciation as always !!
Warm wishes, michele~

Great azure - blue tones Michele, the depth feeling is strong. I could sujest you a smaller apperture in photos with big depth for better clarity in bigger area. See you!

Oh Robert . . . :P
A model student is right! Clever . . . never too upset at all my nitpicks . . . capable of learning and cautious to do so and move on . . . keeping everything under advisement. It IS more about a willingness to learn and ability to listen . . . without which I would have long ago moved along . . . but YOU are 100% right . . . nobody teaches without students. I think Michele would have learned all this anyway . . . even if it took a bit longer . . . I'm just proud to have been a help!! (And tickled pink she thinks so . . . shhhhhh!)
Regards, Doyle I <~~~~~

For what it`s worth I agree with you 100%.With a tutor like you no wonder she has made such a big improvement BUT then you have a model student who wishes to improve. Take care Doyle, keep up the good work. Robbie

Now consider the attached example eliminating SOME of the sky which will now emphasize the brilliant use of light and shadow in the surf . . . a more dynamic (IMO) cut for the shot. You're excited (I'm guessing because of the wonderful quality you routinely have lately) . . . but now the composition - accents - etc. are MORE important because more is expected. Michele . . . the work and your improvement is simply amazing. Just keep in mind the details . . . soon they'll be instinctive. By the way . . . I've been very impressed with not only your work but your critiques of late . . . You're becoming quite good (IMHO)!! Like I've said about MarnyQ . . . you must have had a good tutor!! LoL! The shot is really good anyway . . . I know you know that. Sometimes it's hard to crop out part of an image to strengthen the composition - especially if you need to crop out a good part! :)
Regards, Doyle I <~~~~~

Michele:
Beautiful scene . . . love the interplay of light and shadow. NOT (personally) a big fan of the composition. Lesson Number 312.a ring a bell? Centrality? Horizontal center seems too close (see attached)

Too Centered?? |
