Interesting. What I can say is that these are not simplified characters, which are used in mainland China. Only in Honk Kong and Taiwan they use this older form of characters. The first line is the full name, the date at the bottom is ... February 1998. The banknote is 5 mao = 1/2 kuai.

Thats an interesting find, Luis, even a little chilling, if you start thinking about it. What might have happened to this person if she didn't have her ID anymore, how difficult might her life be without it....I sure hope she's ok.
