Amazing, I can say the best 'use' of tone in IR that you made EVER!!! I love that deep blue in the whites - grays, excelelnt looking sky!!!

Rob, great shot against the dark blue sky, the snowy whites bring out all the shades of blue. Nice work 7++++

John, shoot wide open with the Dimage7 in color or else you are goingto get A NASTY hotspot that I find very difficult to remove,it`s almost invisible in B&W so you can stepped down for more sharper images.Experiment with the various WB
Flourescent is my WB of choice, try get a good exposure and then switch to MANUAL mode because I find shooting auto gives a lot of very dark images.I don`t mind helping John, before I found the HUE/SAT info I was bursting my brains.
Take care
Robbie

Robert

thank you for you helpful description. I'll have to give it a go and letyou know how it turns out.

I use a Canon 300D for some IR, bought I bought the DiMage specifically with IR in mind (not modified as yet)

appreciate you taking the time to help a fellow photographer out.

Cheers
Johno

Thanks John for your lovely comment.
If you use photoshop try HUE/SATURATION filter, use the individual colors for more precise tones. My favorite is this technique..
Create 2 or more images from the same file with 1 been B&W and use 'APPLY IMAGE' filter and blend the 2 which gives the desired effect.Go thru all of the blending modes. In cs2 1 filter I uses to open Shadows is the SHADOWS/HIGHJLIGHT filter, really awesome filter but don`t mess with the radius as it will cause NOISE.
Dimage7 was my first digital camera which I bought used, even with a converted D70 I still uses it.
Good luck fine tuning your technique.
Take care
Robbie

great IR Robert, although the centre piece seems to meld into one (can't be helped I guess)

I can't seem to get my whites this white while retaining the blue on my Dimage 7, any tips?

regards
John
