Novel shot with a mysterious atmosphere. It looks like a tabletop arrangement or a model in this light.

Such colours and shadows- a really beautiful image. Great to see the bark and details of that tree.

Funny, no one mentioned that in the lower left corner of the tree trunk appears to be a skull! which of course doen't retract from the beauty of the exposure. Painter Clint

You can hardly call that camouflage... LOL!! Fantastic colors (esp background... love it), super DOF, great shadows and excellent composition... well done!!! The only thing you might consider modifying is the bottom... cropping a cm wouldn't be a loss... ;-D

Wonderful lighting and colour here, Joggie! The bird, which is much different from our crows, is a real bonus, too. I like the way you caught the shadow in the background.
Dave.

Hi Joe, thanks for the thought. The dune is high 80-100m. Took the shot from a distance with the zoom extended to max. For a different angle I had to walk up to the tree and would lost the crow then. Have other shots which shows the dune scale agianst the trees. Regards.

Would a lower angle have perhaps emphasized the scale of the dune behind?

Thanks Giulio for your gracious remark. Regarding the colours: I normally work in Photoshop CS2 using the RGB colour mode. I found that when "saving for web" the colour often changes, loosing a fair amount of saturation as displayed in the RGB Photoshop document. After some experimentation I found that by changing the colour mode to CMYK (after resizing and before Saving for Web)the original colours are retained in the JPG to a large extent (you can use the viewer for "Saving for Web" in the new window to compare it to the original underneath - just move the window slightly to the right). For some mysterious reason this does not always work and the colours sometimes go very bland and even get posterised. Mostly though, it works very well. Hopes this help.

i love your natural composition: you have the quality to make a sort of painting with natural elements.
here, at first look in the preview you can even think that is about an abstract paint, but opening the file we see this marvel in all of its details. The lonely crow is the mastertouch....
How could you put this great red tones sharing it on web, i have a lot of difficult to preserve this sort of colours....?

Hi Violetta, thanks for the comment - the shadow is reflected on a huge sand dune in the background.

Rather unique shot. Very nice colours and tones. Dramatic lighting with shadow. Nice frames suits image very well. Ferdinand may have point regarding the cropping.

Striking colours, very beautiful! Excelent composition: the crow is asking all attention on one of the stark places in the photo, moreover is he black in the fully collored surroundings. Maybe it would still be better if cropped a little from the lower part.
