About Dedicated to the COWRA Prisoner of War breakout in 1944 where 4 Australian soldiers and 231 Japanese prisoners died. 334 Japanese soldiers escaped (334 were recaptured) The 10 acre(5 Ha) Japanese garden was designed by world renouned Ken Nakajima as a symbol of historical ties between the two countries. Although Cowra is a farming town in NSW, it is basically DRY country and the green of the Gardens offer an OASIS of relief....
