About This one needed a bit of EV down to prevent overexposure of the buildings and perhaps to get a bit of deeper blue on th sky. Still acceptable to me, since the water steals the show here.

Many many thanks for your nice comment and your intention to add me to your friends, Jefferson, even if this can't work due to limitations. As we all know, the intention is more important than the possibility.

I am glad that you like my portfolio. Best wishes and keep it up,

Nick

Many many thanks for the nice detailed comment, Michali!

As you said, we have to do with extreme light differences here. Too high light on the top, too low light at the bottom. And thus, there is no other way than to allow some overexposure and undrexposure at the best possible compromise. It is not a uniformly high or low light that makes that so hard to get it right, but rather the presence of both.

For me the best possible compromise would be to correct some EV down, making the sky and the facades a bit better and allowing the water to get a bit darker, since it would pressumably still keep most of its deep blue color and the highlighted reflections. The attached image was altered in PS by darkening the highlights. I think that it comes close to what a correction of some EV down could bring at shooting time.

Thanks again and best wishes,

Nick

Thanks a lot for the nice comment, Cathy!

Exactly the depth was my intention when I was shooting this, so I am göad to know that you liked it.

Best wishes,

Nick

Very good composition. Lighting is not very balanced. Frame is under-exposed at the bottom and over-exposed at the top.
Regards,
Michalis

I like the depth of blue in the water here and the birds are well located in the image. Nice work. CC
