About Sydney in its infancy had very little suitable soil for feeding the expanding colony except for the HUNTER
River region just north of Sydney Town, but there was a large river to cross, so our most prominant Surveyor of the time, Major Thomas MITCHELL founded the alternative route north via this steep and hilly section that had to be made suitable to all weather.
the system of under-road and buttress dispersal of water is truely an amazing Engineering feat.

Hi M,
Don't you have ANY time off over Christmas time? 'Down Under' here, the whole b@#+%&*y country comes to a grinding halt, especially the Building industry! Don't work 2 hard...

Ok JD,

I'm starting to get the idea of it now. You are a very good writer and good at explaining stuff.... I appreciate it.

You are pretty funny your-self !! haaaha!
I hope you get time to prowl around this site better like you mentioned in your first message.... I know you would like it too.

I just wanted to say 'Hi' back because I can't write much tonight and am falling close behind you in returning my messages... Yikes !!

How neat for You to be off work for such a long time ! I am envious. I am working harder than I have for almost 5 yrs.
Gotta go for now,
LATER Mate

Hello again!
Sounds like a Neil diamond song, doesn't it?
Well I tried to explain the wall is supporting a CONVICT-built road when our 'colony' was in its infancy. Hell, we STILL have convicts!

I really like this image JD... everything about it .. I like the crocked ~ness of this 'Convict Wall' leaning into the framing...
the textures of the old brickish stones. The light attacking the middle road& window and the moss that grows along that area....

I always appreciate the 'about ' parts.. and you are always so good to describe and leave a great 'about.... '
I just don't totlally understand this one , and the image .. but I do love the image.

Happy Holidays my friend,
M~
