This is one of the best critiques I've ever received, Joe and I can only apologize for the delay in thanking you. It is rare to receive such a detailed and thoughtful critique so I'm especially grateful for yours. I hope you might take a moment to look at some of the other images in my gallery and share your thoughts with me... I will certainly try to visit your gallery and do the same. Once again, I really appreciate your taking the time to articulate your impressions in such detail. I hope we'll be in touch again...

As a CC photo, I'd say that it's well done, and is suggestive for what we know raindrops to be. That bit of back light is what keep the interest in the photo, in my opinion. It does also suggest something of a calming or meditative piece. And the site owners did open up a category for that, recently. Might be better than #14, I don't know.

A couple of things help with this photo. First, there is the top left to bottom diagonal, almost laid out as a highway map from the vein of the second leaf to the twig to the blurred twig in the background going roughly off bottom right. It runs up, that is, or down, depending on how one sees it. And so there is the accidental, but almost seemingly planned inclusion (that is, it belongs in the photo), of the blurred grayish areas, that on the bottom left might otherwise have been objectionable. And there is the symmetry of the upturned twig next to the upturned stem of the leaf, complimenting the same bias for the other twigs and vein of the third leaf. It all seems very organized, with echoes of themes here and there, like a carefully constructed piece of music.

Very beautiful shot. The composition is great and I really like the way you used the rule of thirds against a shallow DOF.
