About This wasn't looking like a very good morning for photography. I awoke to my alarm to hear rain and looked out the window to general greyness but I decided it was worth the early start to get to Crummock Water. I decided to walk quite a way down the lake to a new location and just as I arrived the pink light began to break through. It was one of those magical moments when greyness departs, the rain stops and the whole world is suffused in a preternatural glow.

The colours are as recorded on Velvia. I used a three stop soft ND grad to maintain the detail in the sky and an 81C warm-up filter to counter the blue that Velvia will take on in low light (this doesn't add colour to the image, it simply stops it taking on blue tones that don't exist).

There's dedication for you! Those colours are amazing. And your knowledge of film characteristics is impressive.
