About
On Sunday, October 8, the TCC hosted the Pema Full Moon Festival on the Tibetan Cultural Center grounds at 3655 Snoddy Road, Bloomington, Indiana.
The highlight of the festival was the unveiling of the largest Buddha Thangka in the North America. It measures 50 x 32 feet and is made of hand sewn silk brocade. The thangka will be suspended from the roof top of the Kumbum Chamtse Ling during the Pema Full Moon Festival. Because of its size, it will not be on permanent display. Photos were taken during the practice unveiling on Oct 1. Image quality was reduced by an error at the slide processor.
I have a thanka in my lounge room in Wales, though not quite as large as this one. Seems the dharma is found everywhere these days, and no bad thing, either. Thanks for sharing. Regards, Gary
What a unique and unusual photo... and in Indiana of all places. I can appreciate your feeling about the loss of luster in your transparancies when they are scanned. But... you have the actual exposed and processed film in your hand... no ones and zeros to be lost in cyberland. I particularly admire your choice of camera and lens. I'm looking forward to seeing all your future work.
