About Does anybody want to go swimming with me?:-) I adore such places with the ocean, rustic houses and old stairs leading directly down in the water.

Why not zigzag? Some photos seem to scream for that. A nice background, and a polygonal selection pasted upon it could look nice.

Geometry knows many shapes ;-)

Great great! That looks so good and the dark background actually fits the image too:-)
What more fun changes can we come up with?! A zigzagwindow?:-)

The only thing I found was to combine two selections.

1) Adjust the selection to elliptical and select the top part of the photo. (What will be the bow of the church window.)

2) Adjust the selection back to a reactangle and by pressing the shift-key select the rest of the window. Pressing the shift-key adds a new selection to the already made.

3) Copy and paste in a new, empty image.

There migh be better methods, though. But the above could be an outline of the solution for such a problem?

I attached also an image with the main steps. I hope anything will be visible enough.

Great thing this addition of selections. Who knows what else can be made with its help!

Take care,

Nick

I have no idea how to make this like a churchwindow - hmm there must be a way though to do this- maybe some of the transformtools??
Take care,

Oh yes, that might be the right idea, Annemette! I tried to get that but I don't know how to cut a church window like piece out of a photo. How can this be achieved, could you tell me?

Take care,

Nick

Dear Nick
If I could I might turn this to a churchwindow when it comes to the shape. I think that would work? Thanks for your comment. I“m glad to bring you back to your childhood.
Best wishes,
Annemette

I had to look a very long time on this one, Annemette. It has something very... alive and spontaneous that gives it the typical mood of the south. Simply living and smiling!

As it reminds me of my own childhood I can't be perfectly objective, so the following can only be my very personal and perhaps also limited impression.

The bridge with the black railing and the red street at the top left is something that doesn't belong to the view since it is really very different to the simple rustic rest. Of course, even accepting that, it is almost impossible to crop it off. I tried that and it simply destroy the image because the fine details of the wall at the top would be also cropped off.

Which creates the question again, that Giuseppe posed not so long ago: Why do have pictures to be always rectangles? Why not some irregular shape?

As about swimming, I'm already in salty waters. Hey, where's the rest of us? I don't see anybody here! ;-)

Take care and keep it up.

Nick
