About This is a Super-Macro of a Purple Coneflower (Magnus) near where the petals connect to the pistil and stamen central area. I bought a couple of these after seeing them on UF photo by Robin Wickenkamp entitled "Summer's End"

I used a 105mm Micro Lens, three extension tubes (68mm total) and a 3x filter . . . a tripod (well, duhhhh . . .) and a gold reflector to add reverse lighting to the golden rays of the setting sun. Shot outdoors in all natural light. The yellow you see is pollen.

The title inspired by the lovely Marlyce who mentioned they looked like missiles . . . and my own memories of the flower power Peace movement of the 60s . . . as well as the need for and hope for Peace today . . . Peace WITH freedom from the violence afflicting the world today.

Thanks Lisa . . . I've become a tad bit cynical I suspect. I agree with Albert Einstein who said as long as there is man there will be war. Luckily . . . we can build peace one person at a time starting with ourselves. And of course, there's a difference between peace and non-violence. Gandhi showed how to battle without using violence. Enough philosophy . . . Thanks for the comments on my brilliant work!! LoL!! :)

I hope we someday see peace in our lifetime.

Great title and wonderful how you and Marlyce came up with it.

The macro is stunning. The detail and colors are beautiful and the DOF is perfect, it gives a feeling that it goes on into infinity.

Thanks very much Sam!! I appreciate that -- and would be willing to overlook it if you were a Diamondback fan (considering the homestate)! :)

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

PS: I'm NO Dodger fan - Giants . . . All the way! (Ok, all the way home this season . . . but you know . . . we could still make some very unhappy Dodgers)!

Thanks Annemette. As it happens . . . those are not the petals . . . pistils and stamens only . . . portions of the petals can be seen on some of the other shots.

Thanks Susan . . . almost the exact same set-up as the previous shot you commented on, but I added a 3x filter to get even closer. Oh yeah, and Marlyce kindly stood in to block the breeze . . . which was almost not noticeable . . . but the SLIGHTEST breeze really moved this out of focus so the block was needed. Appreciate those comments though. Very much!
