Clever composition! Most people would not think of taking a picture of a person looking away from the camera. This works wonderfully well!

Nice shot of a pipe smoker.Pipe smoker is not at all cigarret smoker and only who had done both knows the diference.Cigarret is for everybody, pipe for the few with time and taste for a celebration. Your picture just show that the pipe smoker is concentrate in lighting the pipe.A very important point in the "pipe celebration".Goog shot. Regards jorge

I've put you in my friendbox because I like your portraits very much. Do people always know that you take their picture? I guess not, because most of them don't look as they were posing for you.
That's the beauty of it, catching them on unaware moments.
I really enjoy looking at them.
You must live not far from me I guess, maybe in the area Gent/Brugge?

Belgian tobacco, I presume....:-)As a pipe smoker, I agree with Andy...But,to smoke the pipe in USA is badly seen , I know, I tried it, in the middle of furious glances ....:-))

I would have liked to see more of his face, more ( or much less ) of his right hand and some smoke. Perhaps even a flame.
However the light is very nice as is the tonal range.

A very nice image indeed. I love the placement of the pipe particularly. Pipe smokers always seem to treat smoking with a bit of ritual and reverence and this does a nice job in conveying that. Great work.
