This reminds me of van Gogh's Starry Night. He used some of the same colors -- black, dark blues, purples, touches of yellow and red. I was privileged to see the real thing in Chicago. It must have been very rewarding when this was printed to see how well it turned out. This is an emotional photo for me too because my Grandfather, who lived in another state, used to show me the stars when I was a kid. He was fascinated by them and it was always special to hear him talk about them. Thanks for reminding me of so many wonderful things with this photo, it is a work of art.

Technically excellent are all your shots. And this shot is especially well-done considering the difficult exposure situation. The colour gradient in the sky complements the reddish dunes very well. My only nit is that the tree merged with the ground somewhat. I'd prefer if the camera was a little lower so that the tree extends into the sky to make a better silhouette. Still, a great shot.

this is one of the nicest photos that i have looked at since joining this site. Capturing the star trails is admirable, but the foreground and remaining sky have stunning color. I also like the bit of interest provided by the trees in the foreground This is a very interesting image.

Excellent work Don, love the light along the top of the dunes and the light trials have been very well captured.

Very beautiful star trail shot don, What I like most about, is the form of the forground, the tree silhoutte is linking both the dunes, and the sky... great shoht.
I was told once, it is a good idea, to walk around with a flash in hand, to lighten up some parts of the forground... for example here, creating a rim of light on the tree... but may it wouldn't worked out.

I liked too much that photo ... star trails isn?t easy to record on film (reciprocity law here). The only problem with this photo, not a great problem at all, is the tree branch near the horizon. Very good work indeed.
