Sheila . . . I think a perfect choice for f/stop as the DOF (IMO) is great . . . the haze I sense is unrelated and may have been natural in the scene. Only you would know! The focal choice was perfect . . . never lose an expression like that!

I empathise with you my sweet Sheila.....I am forever catching up.
I love this super shot of your two little uns. The conversion is excellent and the tonal range is splendid. I love the facial expression you have caught on your daughter's pretty face and the way you have composed the shot from the corner out into the water where your son plays deep in his own thoughts and activities. I shot this with a lower f-stop to blur the background intentionally- just enough so that he wasn't competing with her in the photo, but not so much that you couldn't make him out. I was trying to keep the main focus on her. Do you think it worked?

I like the shot and the composition (as well as the B&W conversion) is quite good. The BG seems a tad hazy . . . you know, to my eye. Looks like a great way to escape the heat if you guys are suffering like we are . . . and the lil' girl is cute as a button!
