It's still in use, Nessa - but I've only ever seen narrow boats for leisure going along it, which is not so unusual these days on canals all over Britain. (Not that I'm often in Leicester, I hasten to add - but it is the Grand Union Canal, a sort of 'M1' of canal networks in the Midlands..)
