Ed, I've been a long-time owner of ACDSee software, as it's one of the fastest browsers out there. Even though I do most of my editing in Photoshop CS2, I upgraded to ACDSee Pro and I'm glad I did. In fact, those histogram displays are from ACDSee Pro.

Thank you for your detailed explanation Paul.
I am obviously in need of some photo-editing training. Presently I am using ACDSee 7.0 and sticking with the bare basics. What program do you use/recommend?
Thanks again for all your help, All the best, Ed

And the tweaked photo, with the resultant histogram going from fully black to fully white (As Ansel Adams instructed us)... ;)
I hope this helps!

Here's the Histogram of your shot, quite low on white point, and a little high on black point...

You bet, Ed....just a simple change in levels is all that's required

To be honest Paul, I am not really sure what you mean.
Perhaps you could post an example of your suggestion for the shot.
Thanks again, All the best, Ed

Oh, not the colors, Edward, I was referring to the contrast (levels), as there is no pure black pixel in your shot.

Thank you for your comment Cathy.
I am honestly not sure what you are seeing, as I don't see anything that looks like either?

Thank you for your comment Paul.
I think the subdued colours are likely due to the fact that I snapped this picture moments before it started raining.

This baby looks so fragile in a harsh landscape. I would want to take him home. Is that a mark on his cheek or a double image of his nostrils? Cathy

What a cutie! I think the image is a little flat, as there is no pure black in the image.
