I see what you mean. I was very apprehensive with tweaking all the levels, as I'm really new to digital manipulation. Next photo I'll try it, and I'll try with focusing on certain aspects too, though I think I'll try and get confident with levels first.
Hi Chris, per attached - It's more the checkerboard effect I'm going after than a more balanced overall exposure.
By "additional element" I thought about increasing the scale differences; with this multi photo montage type of imagery, I think you can also mix various zoom levels with the different exposed photos to give it a little more impact.
....this is a clever and thoughtful composition, imao, Chris, it has the form of an eye with lots of intersesting stuff happening to produce an interesting, almost abstract, shot, well titled, good work, very well done. cheers, david.
Hi Chris, still find this very interesting. Instinctively, I felt that introducing a few brigher squares on top of the image too ( around st. Paul's and a bit more to the right) would make the division of the various exposures more balanced. Maybe inserting a more zoomed in photo of the cathedral could work too, and add an additional element as well as create a dominant primary subject. I like this...:)
