Good shot of the old elevator, Don! There used to be one in every town here, but sadly, most of them are gone now.
Dave.

Great angle. Love the color. Definitely don't build them like this anymore. You think early 1930-40's? Judging by the narrow build and how the structure definitely goes up instead of out.

Hi Don, Nice shot of this elevator. I used to play around one of these as a kid in Indiana. My dad worked there for years until the dust got to bothering him. Brings back a lot of memories.
Regards,
Kes

Hi Nessa, The building is an old grain elevator used for storage of wheat in this area of the country. For a more detailed explanation go to Petal's comment on this picture. Thanks for your nice comments. Don.

Hi Petal, Thanks for taking the time to view this picture. Here are a few details about this building. It is a grain elevator but is currently not used as it is outdated in terms of ease of use etc. It was used for grain storage, mainly wheat in this area of the country. They drove into the building up the cememt ramp with trucks and they would dump the grain and it would elevate it up and into bins. Later it could be unloaded out of the elevator into railroad grain cars for shipment. The railroad runs right along the right side of the building. The thing that you thought was a post is actually an old well pump for water. The building is constructed of wood inside and that is a corugated metal that is on the side of the building to protect the wood from the weather and keep moisture out of the grain. The present day elevators are mostly made of concrete silos that do basicly the same thing. Hope this explains the building. Don.

What a weird building... looks like they've wrapped something (a kind of 'plastic') all around it, probably to prevent something coming out or getting in between the wooden planks/cracks... ;-D Haven't got a clou, but it sure is interesting... lets speculate... ehhhhhhhhm... nope don't know... LOL!!
Nice view/angle, like how you've 'included' that fence pole, good colors... well done!!
