Umm well I looked at it then scrolled down and read HDW's notes.. I am not sure.. I agree with him that there is something about the pic that’s not quite right but I think its the frame.. because if I concentrate on the image itself I get muted reds and oranges of the sky with those bruised blue purple clouds and the jaded aquas at the very top.. the ocean is terrific like a seething beast.. almost that’s a crap metaphor but it transmits the power of movement.. It looks to me like a str8 image in that it is not PS'd to the max and so dwells amongst the "valid" digital manipulations so well done on resisting the temptation to sex it up.. yeah its just the silly frame that brings it down for me
Something is bothering me about this photo, but I'm not sure what. Technically, it's well taken, the tonal range is nicely balanced, and I do like the dynamism in it. Photographically, there's nothing to nitpick about - it's a very good photo, and well captured.
Maybe it's the element of surprise that's not present here, maybe it's because there are 13 a dozen of these images which remove the feeling of amazement in the beauty, at least to me. Compared to your other photos, I think it lacks a bit of the WOW factor. Hope you see what I mean, it probably sounds more negative than I intend.
