Thanks for stopping by and commenting. They actually all have the colour markings, or are meant to anyway. I guess some are more prominent than others. Looking through your portfolio, you have some wonderful abstracts and B/W - so I guess it qualifies you quite well to comment.... Really enjoyed your "Raptor" and "Birdbrain"

this portrait certainly tells a story. a story of joy and excitement. i think this would be better in color; or all in B/W so we are not left wondering why some have the markings in color and then others do not.

Thanks for your comments Steve. The dark arm is actually the "instructors" leg, and I must admit to pondering what to do about it myself.I guess a liitle inexperience prevented me from cropping it - worrying too much about pulling her a little off centre.. As for the contrast and colour, valuable comments too. Thanks again.

I like this photo, Chris. I like the idea of desaturating all but the camouflage marks. The depth and framing are really nice. I do think the dark arm on the right unbalances things and should have its size reduced to be more in keeping with the width of the wood. I think it's OK to have some color in the lead child's headband, but I don't think the sickly yellow works very well. I think you could go several ways with it, but perhaps accentuating it even more with increased saturation does work well, in my opinion. My personal preference would be to have the photo be a bit more contrasty, but this is just a personal preference. I've appended a rough idea of how I think it might look. Nice job! Steve
