About Watching a lot of floral pictures in Usefilm and on the Web I see that the great part of the photographers (in the average, not you) prefers images of flowers with colours very much satured, lominous, with soft contrasts, better if macro oriented. This is not what I love (see my previous upload). Well, you think, you must choose who satisfy: yourself or the others. It's not so simple. (continue)

Mireille I always admire your skill in the use of frames. You have a special, elegant taste for this ornament and you know how to use them for improuving a composition not well balanced.
I do not use them, don't make esperiences and probably don't have the feeling.
Your is surely better than mine.
Thanks Mireille.
Ciao.

I like this one too especially for the lighting and strong colors, although I would have prefered seeing at least one little part in focus.
Anyhow, it's still a very good quality/dreamy photo ;)
I cropped this brown strip (imo a bit distracting) out and added a frame...please let me know what you think...
Regards, Mireille

Joggie I am very grateful to you for your help in answering to my question. It's true that I like the stark contrast of the backlit and the depth of angle and progressive blurring. Yes, I normally prefer a micro-environment to the real macro, made of a cupple of simple things, even stylized.
By the way, it seems to me that the result of my inquiry shows a modest difference in pleasure sharing between the pictures I like more and those the others prefer (if they are not too dark). This it's encouraging for me.
Thanks again Joggie. Your opinion is very important for me.
Ciao.

Thanks Susie for your appreciated help in my question. I agree with you: the answer is to follow once inside need. We photograph in a certain way because we are made and feel in a certain way. Douts and questions help to get on. Moreover my inquary seems to show that there isn't a great different in pleasure sharing.
Thanks again.
Ciao Susie.

Nice colour Giuseppe but it lacks sharpness in the centre. From your portfolio its clear that you like saturated colours (mainly backlighting)and stark contrast with background and maximum depth of field on the flower. I like it too, but then I also have much appreciation of a more subtler approach with larg out of focus areas and colour and forms of leaves and petals that flow into each other (i.e. shallow DoF with sharp focus on a specific critical element of the flower or leaf - accentuating form and harmony). As a botanist I am always looking for the sharp detail and natural colours while as a naturalist/ecologist I always look at the relation between the elements, the flow of the stream of life - the more subtle side of nature. Thats why I really enjoy your work as much as that of Petal Wijnen and Jorg Reif! kind regards.

The focus here is on the light which beautifully enhances this flower. One could consider this an abstract with the black background and especially with the beautiful de-focused stem.

You are right Giuseppe, there are many diverse tastes. I think in the end you must please yourself and realize that there are lots of others with similar tastes that will love your work. This is sure a pretty shot, but I too prefer the type of shot you presented in your first post. I like the crisp detail and sharp focus more. I love the lighting here, but I miss the focus on the center of the flower! Good experiment and observation my friend.
