Andre, thank you so much for your advice! I could have been searching for days without finding anything suitable! This software is really amazing! Die they perhaps make it in close colaboration with photographers? The more I learn about it the more I get the impression that it is the photographers assistant but in a very artistic way. I still believe that the best capture is that which can be directly published without any enhancements whatsoever, just like National geographic does, but it is a huge treasure to know what this software can produce!

Thank you very much again and best wishes,
Nick

Hi Nick,
I think I understand what kind of mood you are trying to create, by the way you have described it too me. The feeling of tiredness from a long journey on the way home.
There is another little Photoshop enhancement that could be interesting with this one to help in that respect. In the Photoshop filters section in my version, under rendering, there is a lighting effects tool that you can use to create a vignetting effect. It is almost like you are looking through half closed, lazy, tired eyes.

Hi Andre,

and many many thanks for the detailed comment!

I scanned that from a photo but I couldn't get that really clear without those "checkerboard like" patterns, or how they are called. I guess I have to learn much more about scanning!

What I wanted was that kind of a reddish moody capture - what one percieves being on the long way back home after a hard working day. I wanted fatigue, silence, giving the feeling of just being able to make some more steps until home. And so I adjusted a shorter exposition time on the camera.

But your idea is very interesting! How about enhancing it the other way around? Makining it somewhat morem brilliant? I really have to try that again according to your advice next winter.

Many many thanks and best wishes!
Nick

Hi Nick,
I like the composition of this one. The exposure seems a little flat. You may not agree, but I don't see enough bright whites or dark blacks in the image. Even 5% black and 5% white would make a huge difference to the image. You would still be able to keep your original vision intact. I have a feeling that this is from a scanned print, that may not have been adjusted.

Thank you very much Doyle. It was a bit of experimenting to have so many curves on a photo but at the end it worked in an acceptable way, I think.

Best wishes,
Nick

Nice composition on this Nick . . . I like the placement of the road and the slope adds lines that help maintain the viewer's interest by pulling the eye along.

Regards,
