I am just learning micro techniques, Pat, so I appreciate your encouragement. The macro converter does not add to the lens quality. On the other hand, this one does not seem to take much, if anything, away - at least not when paired with micro Nikkors. I did try Nikon's TC-20E tele-extender which certainly degraded the image. Like the tele-extender, the macro converter increases focal length - so I am getting very close to your 200mm micro Nikkor in focal length and working distance at 1:1. However, I can then move in closer and get 3:1 at the same working distance as the 60mm micro Nikkor - which is very close, about 3 inches. The idea of using the Panagor Macro Converter came from Joggie van Staden. This technique should also work with your 200mm and get you into 3:1 range at your normal working distance. There is no autofocus but it is not necessary!

Eb - Obviously you're GREAT at micro shots too! Love the detail. Is it safe for me to assume that the macro converter does increase clarity and sharpness? Obviously I know little about this attachment.
