Aha! I knew it! Thought I'd throw that tilt line in for those whingy-whiney-nitpickitty folk who go around saying "This is crap, you fool. The horizon line is way off about 0.000000000000001 degrees. Fix it or we'll call the horizon police."
rotfl! I had imagined other members [and very likely staff] dry-retching as they read through that 'geek fest' thread. Should have been titled "How to reduce a serious topic to utter drivel in 3 easy steps"...
Thanks for swinging by and for the lovely compliment. Yup, this is my 16 year old daughter, Ally. Haven't told many people this, but, I had her when I was 10. ;-D

Rina Rina Rina, what am I to do with you? Now you want me to spill the beans on Absctractiva 2? Bad enough you figured out #1 and can break all those codes in the donor forum lickety split.
Okay, I'll fess up. That is the same building as #1 in the series, just around the corner where the building does this curve in and out kind of thing. Yes, I rotated it so that it looks like a roller coaster. And yes, I adjusted the color, it was much the same color of green reflective glass as #1. And I took out a couple of support columns that were peaking through from the darkness of the parking garage.
There, you happy? I've been outed.
I must say I absolutely love this portrait. The darker one didn't appeal to me. The lighting does so much justice. Now I have a question.... is this you or your daughter? Because, frankly, I cannot tell the two of you apart.
Best wishes, Dave

HIYA Rina....here I am better late than never. Work always gets in the way on Tuesdays and Wednesdays!!!! I STILL prefer the first posting with Ally looking dark and mysterious. The highlights in the hair of this post are good to see and truth be told Ally looks great in both shots. I wish you well in getting her to pose some more for you as it's great to have a willing model or two. My stepdaughter is a very pretty girl but a very reluctant model which unfortunately transmitted itself into the few shots I took of her. Well done my sweet Rina. A huge hug and a big kiss along with the best of best wishes.....Ray

wonderf ul capture and the warm light is fantastic... Hi Rina, I've see both version and I like them both, although it is of the smae shot, it is very differnt in mood. The first one with its darker tones brings out the drama of dusk and a feeling of limited time left. This one has more life to it and the attention is fully on the subject. I like the effects of the curls on the hair almost like a net. The reflection of the sun on the glasses and the way she poses looks as if shes admiring the sunset. nice shot and good composition... regards..

Hi Rina, I might not have the most discriminating tastes :0 but....while I really like this image, I really LOVED the other one. IMHO this one just doesn't have the amazing appeal that the darker image had. In this one the horizon shows up as needing to be straightened, but in the darker one you could get away with it. If you're looking for votes...I cast mine for the first post! (But both of them are wonderful) Kathy

Yeah, I'm with you on the darker version. Just has a warmer/moodier feel to it. In retrospect, what I should have done was left that as is but without the vignette (a contributing factor to the flatness I think). However, I do like the extra detail in the hair on this one. As you say, it pops. Oh well, live and learn.... I'm hoping to convince Ally to model properly for me at some stage, so any feedback on poses/angles is extremely useful. Thanks for that.
Coincidentally, we were watching Jackson's KK last weekend. We'd started on the making of, but didn't getting through much before we had to go out. The man is an absolute genius so we'll definitely be making time to sit down and watch the rest.
Thanks again Andre. Cheers!

Hi Rina, The lighter version does throw this image into another mood. Still I'm not sure I like it better... just different. The darker version may be just a tad flat because of the darkness, where this one has more "pop". A matter of taste. I see what Hugo means about the position of the chin. He has a point. The way I see it is with the darker image and the sunglasses, the chin kind of tucked into the coat adds a bit to a sort of shy, "don't bother me look". Anyway, both shots are quite nice!
Ps
Last night I was watching the Second DVD disk on the making of "King Kong" (Peter Jackson's version) A lot of time was spent talking about the post production of the film to match the lighting to the moods that they wanted to portray. They did some amazing comparisons of the same scenes while digitally altering the lighting. Very interesting, and not far off what we do in Photoshop. Just on a much grander scale, with a lot bigger budget! Andre
