Thank you Joggie... the feedback you have given for this photo is excellent... I especially like the idea of placing the pool on the top right of the thirds... will keep your advise in mind next time I experiment with sand photo's.

A very interesting abstract Sue. Lovely texture and patterns in the sand enhanced by the low angle of the sun. I do think that you could made more use of the strong parallel lines of the sand coming in from the left by using more of the portrait format to the left and by shifting the angle somewhat, for the lines to lead one into the shot from the lower left to the small pool which could be placed on the top right intersect of the thirds. This would enhance the whirlpool effect which is already present. A stop down by about 0.7 fStop, would also reduce the blown out areas significantly yet retain the detail of the sand patterns.
