This looks like an Old World painting. I adore it. I wish that I were able to have it on canvas and hanging in my house. It's a thing of beauty.

Beautiful NYC panorama, Paul. Love that color orange. And congratulations on your award. On a personal note, it makes me homesick.

I see it goes from the '50's to the '30's. Alas, we used to go across to NJ to photograph the towers. A great vantage point.

Love the highlight on the Empire State.

Cheers, Leora

Nice silhouettes & panorama of NY. Like much the orange color on it's horizon line & the glow of the Empire State Buliding. Well seen & taken, warm congrats on the SC award Paul, best wishes.

Paul,

Amazing pano!

I love your presentation! reminds me of driving in over the tapanze (sp?) at sunset a few years ago...wishing I had my camera.

very nice details! Amazing to 1/500! The colors, (that grad!!!) all amazing.

This image makes me quiet, as if I've stopped to take it all in. it's honestly one of the better images I've seen in a while. one to be proud of for sure!

Well done, and congrats on the SC award! well deserved!

cheers,
-joel

What a fabulous panorama, Paul. A beautiful near silhouette. Such a shame you had to go to Jersey to get it. (Just kidding.) Congratulations on the Staff's Choice award. It's well-deserved.

This was shot through a not-so-clean hotel window, so I knew a multi-frame panorama would be impractical. Fortunately, with the 20D, the resolution is high enough that I simply did a horizontal crop on the single frame, and got all the detail I could have hoped for.

A nice view of a great city skyline. I like how you captured the sun's reflection striking the tall buildings.

*and i will have to assume Roger's comment was more about his architectural taste than anything offensive about the twin towers of sept.11

Good guess, Sal, you were quite close. This was shot from the 8th floor of my East Rutherford hotel, right across the highway from the Stadium.

Congrates on the award Paul and it's a very nice shot. I was gonna say the NY skyline hasn't looked the same since 9/2001 but then I read Roger's amazingly insensitive comment about how much better it now looks with out those 2 bricks standing on their ends (AKA the World Trade Center towers) and it just hits me why I'm on here less and less. To speak about such massive destruction and horrible lose of life in such casual, super cold terms is just so vile and offensive to me (not to mention that the WTC looked great - a kind of book end of ultra modern design.) that I have nothing else to say, Mark

Very dramatic Paul. The color and the shine on the ESB if very well captured. You must have been in Seacaucus, I can see the hill the palisades form in the foreground. You must have been fairly high up. I'm originally from New Jersey and know the area pretty well, where did you snag this shot from exactly?

Fantastic light Paul. A great time of day. Too bad it doesn't last long. Or maybe that is why it is so special?

Thanks, Hugo!
I got up early and only had a moment or two of this golden sheen on the ESB before the skies lightened.

Yes, that's the Empire State Building, Kay.
And yes, this is a single image cropped horizontally, not a stitch.
Thanks for your comments!

Hi Paul, Superb, simply sup0erb. Simple. One of the cleanest and most impressive shots I've seen for quite some time. The fine details and reflections of the sun in the full sized version add the finishing touch, and leave me speechless. Great shot!

Cheers,

Hugo

excellent picture, a real good example of a cityscape. The colors in the sky are very great, and makes a nice combination with the dark buildings. Good composition also, or a great crop with the Empire State Building getting the most focus on the right.

Kay McIntire   {K:11787} 4/4/2006
What an incredible sight! The sun glowing on the tall building on the right (Empire State?) is really awesome. Great catch- is this stitched together or just cropped top and bottom?
